The most important part of a urine drug screen is making sure that the urine sample is valid. You should know that when you submit your urine, the laboratory will attempt to verify that your sample is not diluted and that you haven't added any chemical adulterants to it. Many testing centers use drug adulteration test strips like this one to help them make a fast and inexpensive decision about the quality of your sample.

Seven different criteria are measured to help make sure that your sample meets testing standards. Creatinine levels and specific gravity are measured to indicate if your sample is diluted; pH testing helps determine that the sample is indeed urine and has not had any acids or bases added to interfere with testing; nitrite, gultaraldehyde, pyridinium chlorochromate, and bleach testing determine if any of those substances were added to interfere with testing.

If you're worried that you may fail a screening because of drug use and are afraid that labs may detect your attempts at detoxification, consider testing yourself with an adulteration strip after using your detox solution to see how they will rate your sample.
